What Is Motrin?

Motrin (generic name: ibuprofen) is an over-the-counter medication classified as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It’s commonly used to reduce fever and relieve pain or inflammation caused by a variety of conditions, such as muscle aches, headaches, toothaches, back pain, arthritis, menstrual cramps, or minor injuries.

Children’s MOTRIN and Infant’s MOTRIN products are also available. The ibuprofen in MOTRIN works to relieves minor aches and pains. It disrupts the production of prostaglandins, which are substances produced in response to injury that contribute to pain and inflammation.
