Equate Omeprazole Delayed-Release 20 mg Capsules are an effective over-the-counter medication which provides relief for frequent heartburn (occurring two or more days a week). Take one capsule daily to treat heartburn for up to 24 hours. The active ingredient, Omeprazole, is an acid reducer that works by inhibiting the proton pumps in the stomach from producing excess acid, effectively reducing stomach acid at its source. (Compare to the active ingredient in Prilosec OTC® 24-hour heartburn relief) For adults 18 years of age and older. Use as directed for 14 days; do not take for more than 14 days or more often than every four months unless directed by a doctor.
